About
MadKudu is a B2B Marketing Automation platform with a foundation based in data science. I was brought onto the team at MadKudu as a freelance website designer/developer and quickly got hired on as the first designer. Within the first 6 months, I re-imagined the brand, app UI/UX, data visualization, and website. Now a product designer I work deep in the product team writing PRD's, designing features, and maintaining our design system.
Problems & Insights
'How do you make data accessible?' Part of the problem I was hired to solve was taking an advanced data automation platform and making it accessible to a wide range of users, internal data scientists, marketing operations, marketing executives, and sales teams.
Visual Identity
The MadKudu team has such a strong personality - 'the passionate data nerds of the marketing space', when designing the brand I wanted to make sure it reflected these values but also worked on all mediums (website, app, charts, graphics). By choosing a palette that was semantic I was able to ensure the colors worked in everything from data visualization to graphics on the website.
What I learned
Coming on as a freelancer for web design/development and then being hired on to redesign their entire app I quickly had to learn app UI/UX and how to extract insights from complex data charts. MadKudu is a very complex product for highly advanced Marketers - designing for sophisticated users with a user-centric approach took my understanding and realization of the power of design to a whole new level.
